Danish-delights an actual 2016 serie smaller paintings_10 x 15 cm until 30 x 30 cm /28 x 34 cm_oil on grounded canvas. 2016

Catching impressions while being abroad is one of my inspirations for my work. The title refers on the one hand to the light little frames, on the other hand to the delightful moments to be captured on the paintings. Delightful snapshots, delightful danish light, deliciuos paintings met in different museums. Even some etiquettes in shops took my attention, celebrating vintage stuff and old photographs.

All the canvases are grounded several times in a big green-blue variation. They al together looked as a painting too. Back home all the vivid ground got a painting on it, alla prima, just the most necessary colorspots to give the one impression belonging on the right green or blue.

Bogumil

The actual retoken photographs are showing a friendship of two men, Adam and Fritz, or also called Bogumil out of the years 1930/40. Adam made this album for the upcoming marriage of Bogumil, as a piece of memories showing what they two did together, many hiking trips through the nature, enjoying walking, the mountains, the lakes, mostly the loneliness in the nature.

In the end, the last picture is marked with: ‚the bereaved man: what shall I do, becoming desperate?’

After having found the book in an antique shop, my fascination for this friendship grew up and inspired me for some paintings. Regarding and regarding again the album, I also fell in love with this intense friendship and the photographs itself. Black and white scenes, some with a brown touch, some lightly damaged through the years, were taken consciously, to clutch the moments, to pause them. Some big love is flowing softly through these pages.

My photographs bring this old scenes in a new light, bring them to a public, make them celebrate a new attention.

Some real light spots are bringing them in a new focus.

Bilder im Kopf

Having thousands of pictures in my head, many old canvases in the cellar, this two facts made me actual perform this paintings. Having older paintings or not yet finished ones, suddenly they became the ground for a new scene, were important for a new subject standing besides something news. From beeing a painting they are getting now just minds or moments. Moments are transforming into reflection of the person standing in the front painting. The front people are showing the pictures, thoughts in their heads, thoughts about what happend in the past.

The observers eye is moving from the person to the backround, searching for a story behind, keeping moving back and forth…..
